Ahtna’s experience extends to the Second Line of Defense (SLD) Program mission for U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration. We provide design, integration, construction, communications and engineering services to the SLD program. The mission of the SLD program is to strengthen the capability of foreign governments to deter, detect, and interdict illicit trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive materials across international borders and through the global maritime shipping system. The goal within the mission is to reduce the probability of these materials being fashioned into a weapon of mass destruction and used in acts of terrorism against the U.S., its key allies, and international partners.
